Abstract

Learning Objectives:

• Identify the main topic in the books and retell key details of a text.
• Students will compare and contrast a variety of animals to humans.
• Students will be able to list similarities and differences between humans and other organisms
• Students will be able to identify characteristics of a variety of animals.

These two activities use 23andMe’s “You Share Genes with Me” board book to have students compare humans to the organisms they read about in the book. In one lesson, students create a Venn Diagram. In the other lesson, students arrange different types of animals in order of their relation to humans and compare it to the Tree of Life.
